This week....
Today we went to Master Gardeners and learned about the parts of a leaf and how they make food! We also learned that it's called Photosynthesis when the plant makes the food!
Thursday we will be going to the 3rd grade play at Jr High in the afternoon. We also will be taking our ELA 6 weeks test that morning.
Friday is their Math 6 weeks test.
Monday (16th) is their MOY Math test.
Tuesday (17th) is the MOY Reading test.
I know this seems like a lot of testing, but I do believe your students are well prepared and will do well on them if they apply their knowledge. These tests will give us important data on what the student struggles with so that I am able to better address that concept.
Next Friday (20th) we will be having our Christmas party. It will begin around 9am with a movie and hot chocolate in our pajamas. Students are allows to bring a small blanket that would fit in their backpack. No pillows please. We will be making our ornaments and a little craft to bring home as a surprise. I am very excited that this year Sonic is helping out with our food. Please send $2.50 so cover the cost of their wacky pack. Notes with more information will be going home today.
Also going home today are progress reports and graded papers. These DO NOT need to be signed or returned. Please note there are no Science grades, as we are starting Science this week.

I'm baaack!
**UPDATE: Due to the Apaches advancing to quarter finals, GE will have an early release on Friday, Dec. 6th.
I just realized I had taken small vacation from the blog... I apologize! I guess I just got so excited about the holidays! And, I hope each of you had a fantastic break as well!
It's hard to believe we are starting the last three weeks of school before Christmas. Here is what's going on in our class for those next three weeks!
This week... we are learning about autobiographies. We are actually writing our own, too! Also in ELA we are re-visiting our verbs and changing their tenses to past tense. We get to play some fun games with this topic! Most importantly, we are working on changing irregular verbs - shake/shook, buy/bought, etc.
In Math we are finishing counting coin collections. If you have loose change around the house, have your student work on counting it. We will test later this week on this concept and then move on to two-digit addition. This topic will continue until Christmas break, so we can get a lot of practice!!!
During this time (week of Dec. 9) we will also be PM Benchmarking for reading levels. I look forward to seeing the progress everyone is making!!! They are doing so great with their reading.
